Reporting to: Senior Packaging Technologist

Location: Biggleswade

Job Description

The role of Creative Packaging Technologist is a key support role in the business, liaising with customers, purchasing and the sales team to create unique bespoke packaging solutions that drive efficiencies and improve sustainability.

You will coordinate the internal process of sample production, creating designs on CAD software and manufacturing on our CAD Table, sending direct to customers or to one of our sales team. You will also be required to bring together any supporting samples such as void fill etc.

Creating accurate drawings based on existing customer samples for our purchasing team. Identifying potential improvements to the design, driving our customers efficiencies. In this capacity you may also support the purchasing team by sending drawings direct to suppliers and manage the quotations coming back.

Working directly with the sales team you may be required to support them on customer visits. Helping take briefs, performing customer audits and packaging reviews. You will then present and feedback to customers demonstrating your findings and implementing solutions discussed.


Skills & Competencies

  • Sound understanding of CAD Software (ArtiosCAD/Kasemake etc.) and sample production.
  • Passionate about creativity, innovation and design
  • Sound understanding of various packaging materials such as void fill & tape.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Suite
  • Strong Project Management and Presentation Skills
  • Works well in a customer facing role.
  • Excellent knowledge of corrugated and packaging materials
  • Understanding of Six Sigma or lean principles
  • Experience of Value Engineering from a packaging perspective
  • Experience of Corrugated manufacturing advantageous but not necessary
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as on their own.
  • Conscientious and sustainable approach to delivering packaging solutions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Creating accurate drawings and identifying correct board specifications for purchasing to source.
  • Run the sample process, creating both printed mock-ups and samples for sales colleagues and customers.
  • Manage the consumables needed for the sample process.
  • Support sales teams in preparation of proposals and presentations.
  • Take briefs from customers and sales colleagues.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team. 
  • Maintain contact with both internal and external customers to ensure high levels of customer service satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees.
  • Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company polices, processes and practices.
  • Ensure that all business activity is conducted in line with company values, policies and ethics codes of conduct.
  • Analysing client data to provide customer relationship management.
  • Expanding relationships and bringing in new customers
  • Innovating new products & services with Key Stakeholders and presenting profitable solutions to existing & new customers.
  • Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management.
